Job Summary
The Security Engineer will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining the organization’s security infrastructure. With 3 years of hands-on experience, the candidate should have strong technical skills in vulnerability assessment, incident response, and security tool administration. The role requires proactive monitoring of threats, supporting compliance initiatives, and collaborating with IT teams to embed security best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Security Operations
- Monitor and respond to security alerts using SIEM tools
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation activities
- Support incident response, root cause analysis, and documentation
- Administer firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and email security gateways
Infrastructure & Cloud Security
- Implement and manage security controls across servers, networks, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure)
- Support IAM policies, MFA, and role-based access controls
- Assist in securing containerized workloads (Docker/Kubernetes)
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure adherence to ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, and other relevant standards
- Maintain audit logs and assist in compliance reporting
- Support security awareness training initiatives
DevSecOps & Automation
- Integrate security checks into CI/CD pipelines
- Automate vulnerability scanning and patch management
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to embed secure coding practices
Core Technical Skills
- Operating Systems: Linux (RedHat, Ubuntu), Windows Server.
- Security Tools: SIEM (Splunk, ELK, QRadar), vulnerability scanners (Nessus, OpenVAS), endpoint protection.
- Networking: Firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, secure network design.
- Cloud Security: AWS IAM, Security Groups, GuardDuty; Azure Security Center.
- Containers: Docker, Kubernetes security policies.
- DevOps Tools: Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions with integrated security scans.
- Scripting: Python, Bash, PowerShell for automation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in security engineering or related IT security roles.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Certifications (Preferred)
- CompTIA Security+ or equivalent.
- Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH).
- AWS Certified Security – Specialty (added advantage).
- Cisco CCNA Security / Microsoft Security certifications
